Blue Ridge Industrial Hygiene, Inc. is the industrial hygiene consulting firm of Mary M. Cavanaugh, CIH. I work full-time as an industrial hygienist for Appalachian State University. Because so many friends and neighbors — people without tons of money to pay for a big firm from Raleigh to come up and help them — were calling me for help, I decided to form a company so that I could provide High Country residents and businesses with professional, affordable industrial hygiene services. I don’t have to “make a living” doing this work so I can keep my prices low. I only accept a few clients at a time. I do this work on nights and weekends so that it does not interfere with my full-time job at the university. Thus you don’t have to pay an “after-hours premium” for me to come to your home or workplace after 5 p.m. or on the weekends, because those are my “regular” working hours! I provide professional, unbiased, confidential expertise in most areas of industrial hygiene. Click on “What We Do” in the menu at the left to see the kinds of work I do most often. I am a full member of both internationally-recognized organizations for industrial hygiene: the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH). I am also a member of the American Chemical Society’s Division of Chemical Health and Safety. As a member of these organizations, I adhere to their strict codes of ethics. That means I never work where there could be a “conflict of interest” — like testing for mold and telling you that you have a mold problem, and then “fixing” the supposed problem for you or selling you a product to fix it ; or referring you to a company that gives me kickbacks. And that means you will never have to wonder if I have a “hidden agenda” to “find” expensive problems for me to “fix.” |
